When the leaders of men in the metro come together lifting up holy hands in one accord with one heart and one mind on critical issues,
and they follow through and enable the people to willingly offer themselves in their part;

the righteous with right principle will rule and bless families and community and congregation in the metro

and there will be rejoicing in the streets, then shall the daughters dance along with both young men and old men together

at the commitment, consistency, nurturing, involvement, protection, provision, and spiritual renewal

Personal Focus

On Wednesday evening, January 23rd, at Catedral de Adoracion (Cathedral of Worship) the presbytery laid hands on me and sent me into the next 20 years.

This is a significant year for me.  I am coming out of sabbatical after over a year and dedicating significant prayer involvement and some leadership roles to support key events in the first half of the year.

My expectation is that this will be a tough year, an intense year. a year of cultivation.  My expectation is not that this will be easy.  I expect resistance and some hardship. So?  Fields that need plowed are tough.  God is able.  It is with wise and wide open eyes that I enter into this year.  This is a declaration of war in prayer to see our metro move another step closer to unity in Christ.

 Phil’s Personal Priorities

1. That my family around me would join in supportive speech and heart

2. That paths would be full of blessing

3. That my heart would stay full of joy

4. That the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart would stay acceptable in His sight

5. That financial prosperity would overwhelm both business and ministry ventures

6. That my mistakes would be covered in His blood

7. That I would always extend grace to others

8. That no words or thoughts of judgement would reside in me

9. That I would find ways to help others feel received in Christ

10. New business venture

Psalm 23 A psalm of David.

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

In what is surely a different world than we have known, there is need for military peace. In a destabilized world of nations at great unrest, there is need for heart peace.

Pray for both.

God bring for me what You have spoken of me.

Gen 18:19 For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that Jehovah may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

God bring for me what You have spoken of me.

Put your name in this verse for Abraham.

Does righteousness live in your heart and home?

Does justice live in your heart and home?

If God brought His promises to you would you pass them on?

Would your children receive them?

Would your friends receive them?

Would your family receive them?

Would your neighbors receive them?

Would your coworkers receive them?

Have you done this now?

God bring for me what You have spoken of me.

Build the right follow up for relationships.

Build the right connection for relationships.

Build.  It is the right thing to do.

It is not strength in our culture.

It is necessity.

Truthfully, does your heart groan to see this well?  Mine does.  Our neighbors are precious.  Our neighbors are disconnected from real life change.

How are we different than the world?

Change is what we want.  Will we change?

Men and women come looking for Christian example.  They want example to live.  They receive a book and church services.  They need our life.  They need our time.  They need our example.

God bring for me what You have spoken of me.

My eldest corrected me.  "Dad, when I came with a question, you gave me a book.  I just wanted a simple answer."  She was right.  As the frightened father of a teen, answers eluded me.  My dad had none for me.  Life had none for me.  I had none I trusted for them.  But I had my life in front of them.

What was the answer?  The same daughter came to me recently and laughed.  "Dad, a student came to me yesterday.  She told me she just wanted the short answer to a math problem."  My daughter has become like me.  As a high school teacher, she wants others to know how truth is built.  She doesn’t want them to just have the final answer.

God bring for me what You have spoken of me.

Truth is built.  Truth is handed off in righteousness.  Truth is handed off in justice.  Truth is pushed into the lives of others.

Transfer of truth takes time.

Transfer of truth takes effort.

Transfer of truth takes discomfort.

God bring for me what You have spoken of me.

Will you reschedule your time to transfer truth to others?

Will you reschedule your time one on one with God for Him to transfer truth to you?

I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.”  Mother Teresa

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10

Father, there are wars that need prayer across our worlds.  There are great undertakings that need prayer in our nations.  Right now, I need strength to sustain in love and in pain.

Cause the hidden man of my heart to be stronger than the old man.   Energize me with the fire of the presence of Your Holy Spirit deep in my soul.

Cause hope to ooze out of my words and my countenance because it lives in my heart.  Let the love of Christ be touchingly real to me and through me.

Cause stamina to stand in a thousand moments of adversity.  You are greater in me.  You are bigger than a thousand adversities.

When the oaks of righteousness are able to offer faith and fulfillment to a struggling people, our metros are blessed.

When the leaders lead, Father, You are blessed.  Let those that look up see Your strength.

Cause me to hold strong in love and in pain.  Your forcefulness and power is focused toward me even as it was focused toward Jesus, when you raised Him from the dead.

Cause my decisions to be out of knowledge and sound discretion while living with loves and pains.

Cause me to live in joy, leap in faith, walk in trust, and love in pain.  You are my God.

Keep focused!

The Lord Is On My Side

It is a shame that the world fights so viciously.  Certainly that is not the heart of the God of all Peace and the God of all Comfort.  What are we thinking?  Of the three religions that claim to worship the One God, all of them are either shooting bullets or shooting lip.  God grant us peace.  Give us wisdom to accept the peace that passes all understanding and to pursue all things that lead to peace and mutual edification.  We repent. We have sinned against Your heart.

You, Oh God, are on the side of righteousness, joy, and peace in Your Holy Spirit.  Let us be the people of peace.

Give grace in the elections in the United States.  Bless us with men and women of wisdom from on high.

Jesus is Bigger

Continually, as the enemy makes his noise in the streets, God is bigger.  Media presses the envelope of praising Satan and all his evil works.  They focus on the evil of the flesh of man, the evil of the world waiting redemption, and the evil of the enemy doomed to defeat.

Take time to celebrate the goodness and bigness of God.  Let Jesus be lifted in the good words of your mouth and God will be praised.

April 16, 2006

The faithfulness of God is rich.

As we have celebrated the Resurrection, it is time to celebrate new faith in Christ.  Pray for souls to come to Him in fresh faith.

This Spring has been filled with men coming together in prayer.

The Catholic Men’s advance was a terrific time this February.  It was my first adventure with them.  For ten years they have gathered in prayer and repentance and the Word.

The Business and Community Leaders Luncheon is off and running with a tremendous spirit of Christ earlier this year.  The attendance was wonderful.  May 25th is the next time at the Petroleum Club downtown.

The Metro Prayer Breakfast sponsored by CBMC/OKC as always stirred the soul of the city.

The Annual Fathering Essay Contest is running from submissions from the schools.  Over 5000 essays from Western Oklahoma and the metro have been judged and sent for final judging at the National Center in Kansas.  Many more were received in Tulsa and from the Eastern half of the state.

These are all areas where PrayerMetro is linked and making a difference.

January 2006

It has been so good to walk with the Lord this year.   After a six month struggle with disease, He completely healed me.  It is wonderful.

Some great reports from 2005 include:

1.      Over 400 men gathered for a men’s leadership event with Steve Farrar co-hosted by Crossings Community and Quail Family of God.  Many congregations were represented.

2.      Over 170 men and daughters from across the metro gathered for a Father/Daughter Summit hosted at St. John’s Missionary Baptist.

3.      Leaders from over 40 congregations gathered for a Men’s Issues Conference dealing with tough issues co-hosted by the State Dept of Health and the University of Central Oklahoma.

Partnerships in prayer and men’s issues have been tremendous.  God is faithful to unite business, community, government, education, and the faith community in changing our metro.

Matthew 11:5: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

“If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one..”  Mother Teresa

Across our land are thousands of congregations and ministries dedicated to taking the gospel into the hard spots of life.  They contend with spousal abuse, child abuse, poverty, untreated disease, mental disorders, and violence.  They contend daily.  They contend with the gospel against depravity of humanity.

These are my heroes.  These are men and women, who are fulfilling the great commission of preaching the gospel to the poor.  It is easy to preach the gospel to the comfortable.  Their comfort is reinforced.  It is easy to preach the gospel to the rich, they smile and nod their heads.  It is our “passion” to preach the gospel to the poor.  It is our “cross” to preach the gospel to those in pain that seems endless.  It is our call.  It is our burden.  It is our privilege to share in the suffering of the glory of Christ in preaching the gospel to the poor.

Let’s Pray:

Lord of Life and Truth, bring understanding to our hearts and minds.  Let us see beyond the veil of suffering and into the glory of serving.  Lord, You told us the poor would always be among us and then You sent us into their midst to make a difference.

Lord, we repent of taking the easy roads.  Lord, we seek to find You in the hardest, ugliest, and most violent spots on earth.  Lord, we seek to take You into the hardest, ugliest, and most violent spots on earth.

Lord, You commissioned us to open the eyes of the blind and set at liberty the captive.  Lord, You sent us to bring joy for mourning and gladness for the bitterness of life.  Lord,  You sent us with healing in our wings as messengers of this gospel of life in Jesus.  Lord, You gave us authority over all the power of the enemy to tread on the serpents and scorpions of disease and discouragement and essence of evil.

Lord, bring encouragement to those on the front lines of the gospel.  Their names are silent.  Their work is unseen.  They are our heroes.  Bless them.  Cause Your face to shine on them.  Bring them everlasting peace.

A Prayer of Blessing For a Minister

Father, I ask you to bless my minister friend right now.

Holy Father, please minister to their spirit at this very moment.

Where there is pain, You be their comfort, as You give them Your peace that passes all understanding, Your abundant overflowing grace, and Your mercies that are new every morning.

Where there is tiredness or exhaustion, I ask You to refresh them and renew their strength. I ask You to reveal Yourself by drawing them into greater intimacy with You.

Where there is fear, reveal Your everlasting love and presence, and release to them Your strength and courage.

Where there is sin blocking them, reveal it, and break its hold over my

friend's life through the powerful shed blood of Jesus Christ.  Let forgiveness and mercy flow for them.  Father may they have a pure heart and clean hands before You.

Enable them, Father. Bless their finances through Your abundant provision and give them a greater vision for serving You with them.  Bolster the resolve of their soul to do the work You have for them.

Empower them for ministry.  Anoint the words of their mouth and the testimony of their heart to go forth and accomplish Your vision in them.

Encourage their hearts.  Let no weapon formed against them come to any success.  Shield them.  You are their shield and exceeding great reward.  Cover them in Your presence.

Bring gladness to their soul.  Bring rejoicing to their spirit.  Bring rest to their bodies.  Bring sweetness to fellowship with other saints.

Raise up leaders, and friends to support and encourage them.

Where there is self doubting, release a renewed confidence in Your ability to work through them as Your chosen ambassadors.

Father, I pray You give them discernment to recognize the evil forces at

work around them, but reveal to them Your authority and power to defeat the enemy.

I ask You to do these things in the powerful name of Jesus the Christ, our Lord!

Send us your personal request now so we can pray for you.
